​Hi!  My name is Melanie Ryterski.  I am the K-1st Music Specialist at W.J. Zahnow Elementary.  I have been teaching music since 1989, joining the Waterloo School District faculty in 1997.  I earned my bachelor's degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1989, and a master's degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2005. 

I married Craig Ryterski (retired music educator) in 1991.  We are the proud parents of two daughters, Claire--25, and Ray--21. We live in Columbia, Illinois.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, designing jewelry, and reading.
